Stepping into the unknown, old shells crumble, giving way to new life, as also new ways of life. Re-invention is all around.

In continuation of our endeavours dedicated to promotion of arts since 2007 at gallery ArtSastra (SMC), in the post-COVID era, we bring forth a Retrospective collection of works AndReMoreAgain, of a celebrated Indo-Italian sculptor, Late Concetta Perdicaro Mathur, whom we lost a few months before lockdown.

This exhibition is a tribute to her creative spirit, showcasing a range of her works in stone, bronze, ceramics etc.

10th Nov., 2019 @5:30PM

A very special Baithak for the connoisseurs, students and patrons of Indian classical arts, ‘Reflections on Kathak and Dhrupad and their core values‘.

This baithak in one of the first amongst the Art Appreciation series, to rake up a ground for a dialogue and exploration to happen amongst various disciplines of knowledge and art, which we wish to bring forth to you in the coming days.

Kathak Ke Vilakshan Guru….are a series of monthly baithaks (sit-down conversations) with Kathak Maestro Guru Munna Shukla ji.

In the ancient dance form of Kathak, Guru Munna Shukla ji is one of the few deep reservoirs of knowledge left! His very presence inspires an atmosphere of learning and joyous sharing!

These sessions are about Guru ji sharing with us his vision, rare memories, knowledge and understanding through his talks, lecture demonstrations, performances and compositions.

This Baithak will explore the subject of ‘Kathak Adhyapan’ or ‘Guru ji’s art of teaching Kathak’ . Through a discussion with Guru ji we will glimpse into the life of a Guru, to understand what it is to impart an age old art form to the younger generation, while retaining the sanctity of the art,yet remaining relevant to the world today.

In this Baithak, we will present the traditional rendering of the exhilarating celebration of HOLI. The compelling narrators, through the simple appeal of KATHAVACHAN, take us to Ram Janma and the evocative atmosphere of Holi in Ayodhya, that we may all be bathed in the colours of Bhakti.
